New Aston Martin Hypercar?!

So a few years ago Aston Martin teamed up with Red Bull and Adrian Newey to develop what we now know as the Valkyrie. This car is likely to be one of the fastest around a track, this is due to it's monumental levels of downforce paired to the 6.5L Cosworth V12 which plays a vital part of the chassis. However, this is not the car I want to go into detail about today. Instead I want to cover the newly teased Aston Martin hypercar which is currently known as the Project 003 but there is talk about it being named 'Valhalla' to sit in the correct place of norse mythology underneath Valkyrie. Not much is known about the car at this stage but it will adopt a more 'normal' mid engined supercar layout with exhausts similar to that of the Porsche 918 and the McLaren 600LT. It will sit below the Valkyrie in Aston Martin's lineup of cars, but instead of utilising a lower horsepower Valkyrie V12, the car will use a hybrid V6 although the hybridisation will be more of a LaFerrari style KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) to give it the extra power boost that the normal V6 may be lacking. However, despite having half the cylinders of the Valkyrie, it will still produce upwards of 1000hp, this provides a 0-60 time of "under 3 seconds" and a top speed sniffing at the 200 mph mark.

Both the Valhalla and the Valkyrie are very much development cars for Aston Martin's supercar market as they move into the mid engined layout from the well known front engined GT layout that we are used to. After Aston Martin have spent their time developing new engines and technology, they plan to build a rival for the likes of the Ferrari 488. This would mean that it would likely sit at a healthy 700hp, likely with the same hybrid V6 the Valhalla is going to use. But we still have a few years before we see either of these cars hit the road, for now we're just going to have to put up with the DBX SUV from Aston Martin.

The Aston Martin DBX will share the DB11 V8 engine which produces around 500hp. This car is going to compete with the likes of the Bentley Bentayga, Rolls Royce Cullinan and Lamborghini Urus. Production isn't planned to start until late 2019 so we'll likely see these on the road in Q1 of 2020.
